It’s no surprise that the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a strong start. The Cleveland Guardians continuing to pull off wins is no shock either.
Since Chris Antonetti took over as president in 2016, the low-budget Guardians have suffered just two losing years. They’ve made the playoffs in six of nine campaigns under his leadership. Behind star third baseman José Ramírez and a consistently excellent combination of pitching and defense, they’re always a force to be reckoned with in the American League Central.
And what could be said about the Dodgers that hasn’t been said already? The defending champs look as good as ever, full of star talent and atop the NL West. They’ve easily dispatched the Guardians in the first two games of this series. Now they’re welcoming Clayton Kershaw back into the fold, making his third start of the season on Wednesday.
The Dodgers enter at -142 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The run total is set at nine. Let’s take a look at the best bets for Wednesday’s game.
Pick and Prediction
Over 9 Total Runs (-120)
Kershaw hasn’t been off to the best start in his return from injury. He’s walked more batters than he’s struck out, highly unusual for the career ace, and surrendered five earned runs in six innings.
For the Guardians, Slade Cecconi is on the mound for his third start. Against a red-hot Dodgers offense, this is a tough turn for the young starter. Their star-studded lineup poses problems for anybody, and young right-handers are what they eat for breakfast. It could be a long day for Cecconi and the Guardians’ bullpen afterward. I’m counting on another Dodgers offensive outburst and a victory.
