It has not been an ideal start to this series for Naz Reid, but he remains a key part of this Minnesota Timberwolves team. Through the opening three games of the series, he is averaging 8.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 32.0% from the field and 13.3% from beyond the three-point arc. Reid rebounded a bit in the previous game, shooting 2-for-3 from the perimeter after going 0-for-12 in the opening two games in Oklahoma City.
While Reid still was not a significant contributor, it was a convincing 143-101 win by the Timberwolves to push the series to 2-1. They played with a clear desperation that will need to be replicated if they want to truly swing the series. Teams have only been able to climb out of a 3-1 series hole at a 4.4% rate across NBA history, overcoming this deficit in just 13 of the 294 opportunities.
Looking at this Game 4 matchup, the Thunder enter as three-point favorites with -155 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Timberwolves hold +130 odds of getting the outright victory with the game total set at 219 points.
With the stage set, here are my favorite Naz Reid prop bets for the fateful Game 4 matchup.
Best Naz Reid Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Naz Reid’s props are listed at over/under 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 made three-pointers and 19.5 combined points, rebounds and assists.
Naz Reid Over 11.5 Points (-120)
A fan-favorite of the Minnesota faithful, returning home was a relief for Naz Reid. He was limited to 19 minutes of play due to the nature of the blowout and Reid picking up four early fouls, but finally saw the ball go through the basket at a higher rate.
Reid has yet to have his full offensive breakout, but he is too important to this Timberwolves team to fully abandon. He averaged 14.2 points per game in the regular season and tallied over 11.5 points in 51 of the 80 games he played. This includes all four matchups with the Thunder, with scoring outputs of 19, 22, 22, and 27 logged. Reid shot 46.2% from the field and 37.9% from beyond the three-point arc overall.
Since the postseason started, his scoring output has dropped to 10.3 points per game. He has especially struggled in this series thus far, posting scoring outputs of four, 10, and 10 while shooting 32.0% from the field and 13.3% from beyond the three-point arc. The LSU product has a large sample size of who he is as a scorer, and count on this being a blip in scoring production and a bounce-back spot.
Reid has shot the ball much better at home all season, connecting on 48.0% of his field goal attempts and 40.9% from beyond the three-point arc at home compared to 44.1% from the field and 34.5% from deep on the road. The 18:58 of game time he clocked in the previous game marked his fewest minutes across this playoff run and fourth-fewest all year. Don’t expect him to fall into foul trouble again and finally begin putting his imprints on this series. Count on Naz Reid finally having his breakout game and recording over 11.5 points tonight.
Naz Reid Over 6.5 Rebounds (+114)
While his scoring output has not been as desired, this has not stopped Naz Reid from making his impact on the boards. He has tallied eight rebounds in all three games thus far, even with the limited minutes.
This comes after a regular season in which Reid averaged just 6.0 rebounds per game, with him only pulling in 4.6 per game across the playoffs. However, the matchups against the Thunder have played to Reid’s favor from a rebounding perspective. Oklahoma City has begun to abandon its double-big man lineup to get more perimeter versatility on the floor. They have opted to bench Isaiah Hartenstein in favor of players like Cason Wallace, Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, and Isaiah Joe to give them a better chance of chasing Anthony Edwards off-ball. This has opened the door for Reid to make more of a rebounding impact, and he has made the most of this.
Reid tallied over 6.5 rebounds in 30 regular-season games, including all four against Oklahoma City. In fact, he averaged 11 rebounds per game across these matchups, posting rebounding outputs of eight, 11, 11, and 14. The physicality of Reid and Julius Randle has been a bit bothersome to Chet Holmgren when he has served as the lone big man, and Edwards’ back-to-back 30-point games will continue to keep stopping him as the priority. Count on the trend of Hartenstein’s reduced minutes to continue, with this proving advantageous to Reid.
Expect Reid to have more opportunities with his minutes expected to expand as he hopefully avoids foul trouble tonight. Count on him to tally over 6.5 rebounds for the third straight game, and don’t be too afraid to get creative on some alternate lines.
