In tonight’s evening MLB slate, the San Diego Padres host the Miami Marlins. While the Padres are just 3-7 across their last 10 games, this outing looks like a prime spot in which they can bounce back into the win column — which remains much-needed in a tight NL West race.

As the Padres and Marlins square off tonight, here’s the top Fernando Tatis Jr. prop bet to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Tatis is having a quality season to this point, slashing .282/.350/.513 with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs. His .863 OPS certainly isn’t a number to scoff at, either. While not quite the superstar production of his first couple seasons in the MLB, the 26-year-old is playing excellent ball and remains one of the best young talents in the entire league.

In tonight’s contest, Tatis faces a former teammate in Marlins hurler Ryan Weathers. The left-hander has only two starts to his name this season, each a five-inning stint against the Cubs. Weathers allowed five hits and a home run in the first contest with four strikeouts, then allowed just two hits, one walk, and one home run while recording five strikeouts in the second outing.

Weathers’ career ERA sits at 4.95 with a 1.38 WHIP, 7.37 K/9, 3.13 BB/9, and 9.36 H/9. His HR/9 remains high at 1.60, however, so he could be vulnerable to the long ball.

On the other hand, Tatis hasn’t hit well against lefty pitching this season with a .208/.339/.333 slash line. Weathers isn’t a great pitcher by any means, but it’s difficult to ignore Tatis’ numbers. He’s also batting just .173 over the last 15 days, so the slump creates a perfect storm to target his unders.

With these factors in mind, targeting under 1.5 total bases at -140 odds or 0.5 runs at -125 are both prudent plays. Tatis has gone under that total bases line seven times in his last 10 games, and he’s only recorded a run once in that same 10-game sample. Take advantage of the slump before he reverts back to form.
