MLB Best Bets: Top Strikeout Prop Bets for Sunday 5/25/25

Updated:

By: Zach Thompson

Sunday wraps up a full weekend of baseball as all 30 teams close out series on Sunday before heading to new locations for their Memorial Day matchups spread throughout the day on Monday. Five of those games start at 3:00 p.m. ET or later, so let’s take a look at some of the best strikeout prop bets to throw some bankroll on to close out a big weekend of action. My three top picks from the later Sunday options include plays from Will Warren, Edward Cabrera and Kodai Senga.

Every day of the season, DraftKings Sportsbook offers multiple ways to get in on the action with player props, Moneylines and picks against the spread from each MLB contest. You can also pick series winners, award winners and team futures as well, so be sure to check out all the options available on the MLB page of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Best Strikeout Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Will Warren over 6.5 strikeouts (-105)

Warren and the Yankees are finishing their stop at Coors Field, where the weather could be an issue. Double-check the forecast, but if the game is able to be played uninterrupted, Warren will have a good chance to go over this strikeout line.

He has at least seven strikeouts in each of his last four starts, totaling 34 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings in starts against the Rays, A’s, Mariners and Rangers. He set a season-high nine strikeouts in Seattle against the Mariners two starts ago and then established another season-high with 10 strikeouts in his last start against the Rangers. He didn’t have to pitch a long time in either of those outings, not completing the sixth inning, so he should be able to quickly get the strikeouts if the rain holds off.

Another reason he should be able to quickly get strikeouts is his matchup is against the Rockies, who lead the majors with 508 strikeouts for an average of 9.8 strikeouts per game. They have the highest K% in the majors on the season and the second-highest over the last two weeks.

With such a great matchup and excellent current form, the only thing that could be too much of an obstacle is if the game has a delay, which abbreviates Warren’s outing. Check the forecast, and jump in on this over as one of my top strikeout prop bets if it looks clear enough to get the game in.

1st Strikeout Thrown: Edward Cabrera over Kyle Hendricks (+130)

In this nice quick-hitter, I like getting Cabrera over Hendricks in this first strikeout thrown prop. The juicy odds here are because Hendricks has the advantage of being the home pitcher and taking the mound first. However, Cabrera has posted much better strikeout numbers overall and should be able to make up that ground in this matchup in Anaheim.

No scheduled starter on Sunday has a lower K/9 than Hendricks, who averages just 5.3 K/9 or 0.6 strikeouts per inning. If he doesn’t get a strikeout in the first inning, Cabrera should be able to swoop in and grab the win in this prop since he has an 8.65 K/9, meaning he averages 0.96 strikeouts per inning.

Cabrera also has a strong advantage since the Angels have a strikeout rate of 25.9% over the last two weeks, while the Marlins have a strikeout rate of only 17.9%. The Angels have been scoring more runs and winning more games, but the Marlins have been good enough at strikeout suppression to count on them for one inning to get Cabrera the chance to get the win. If you want a safer but “longer-term” quick-hitter, Cabrera is -165 to get the three strikeouts before Hendricks.

Kodai Senga under 5.5 strikeouts (+105)

Senga and the Mets host the Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball in the rubber game of their three-game set in the NLCS rematch. On Friday, the Dodgers won in extra innings, and on Saturday, Juan Soto had a key double to get the Mets the 5-2 victory.

The Dodgers’ offense hasn’t been at its best in the series, but they are still a strong offense to support by taking the under on Senga’s strikeouts. Senga has been very efficient this season, going 4-3 with a 1.43 ERA and 2.84 FIP in his nine starts. His batted ball metrics indicate he has been fortunate with those results since his xERA is 3.18 and his xFIP is 4.13.

In his nine starts, he has averaged 5.2 strikeouts per outing and 8.4 K/9. He has come in under this prop line in six of his last eight outings, with games against the Pirates and Diamondbacks as the only two matchups in which he went over.

The Dodgers have been the fourth-best team in the majors at strikeout suppression over the last two weeks with just an 18.4% K%. Both overall on the season and in the split against lefties, the Dodgers have had one of the eighth-lowest team K% in the majors.

Senga doesn’t need to get a lot of strikeouts to be effective and the Dodgers do a good enough job at limiting strikeouts, so the under on Senga’s strikeout is one of my top strikeout prop bets for Sunday night.
