We have a two-way tie for the lead at the Charles Schwab Challenge right now, with Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid sitting at 13-under-par. With that looking like a coin flip and Scottie Scheffler lurking at just six back, we will look to other markets for Sunday’s final round. Below are my two favorite bets on the day.
Andrew Novak to finish Top-5 +250
Novak has continued his torrid play this week by sitting T7 after the third round at Colonial. He’s gained strokes in all four major Strokes Gained categories through three rounds and led the field in SG: Off-the-Tee on Saturday. Novak birdied five of his first six holes to begin his round and would ultimately shoot a three-under 70.
Novak came into play this week having finished T3 or better in three of his past four starts, which includes a win at the Zurich Classic, where he teamed with current leader Ben Griffin. He sits just one stroke back of T4 right now and has shown zero signs that he will let up on Sunday, making this +250 number quite enticing.
Lucas Glover to finish Top-10 +140
Glover caught fire with his irons on Saturday, gaining a whopping 4.15 strokes on approach for his round. To be fair, a large portion of that came on the sixth hole, where he holed out from 136 yards for eagle, but he was dialed in, nonetheless. As it stands, Glover sits T10 after three rounds after firing a bogey-free 64 on the day.
He’s had a lot of recent success at Colonial, posting three top-23 finishes over his past four trips to Fort Worth, including a T8 back in 2021. Another positive sign for Glover is that he’s finally had a positive putting week, having gained 1.17 or more strokes on the greens in both Rounds 1 and 3. He knows his way around this course, and the lack of distance required to succeed here allows his elite approach game to shine.
Nothing too crazy has to happen for Glover to remain in the top-10 after Sunday, as a simple 68 might do the trick. And with the way he’s hitting the ball right now, that seems like a conservative result.
