MacKenzie Gore ($8,600) was cruising Friday against the San Francisco Giants. Through six innings, he allowed only one earned run on two hits while walking three and striking out nine. He threw 91 pitches. Unfortunately, he was removed after throwing a pitch then grimacing.
Gore’s first fastball of the day was 95.3 mph. On his 79th pitch, the velocity was 95.1 mph. By pitch 89, the fastball was clocked at 93.6 mph. That could be something, that could be nothing.

Gore is having a magical start to the season. Through 56.1 innings, the strikeout rate is a whopping 35.6% while the walk rate is only 7.6%, both career-bests. The 28% K-BB% is second only to Tarik Skubals 30.8%. The FIP is 2.95 is well below the 3.67 ERA and the BABIP is an elevated .376.
