What happened to Julio Rodriguez? Live injury updates for Mariners vs. Astros 5/22/25

UPDATE: Rodriguez was scratched due to back tightness and is considered day-to-day.

With just over 30 minutes before the start of Thursday’s game vs. the Astros, OF Julio Rodriguez was scratched from the lineup. There is no mention as to why, but an update is expected from the Mariners after the game.

Julio Rodriguez has 45 hits, 32 runs, 28 RBIs and nine home runs on the season. He is Seattle’s best hitter, so the likes of Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena will have to up their game to fill the void in the meantime. Hopefully, it is not a serious issue for Rodriguez and just something precautionary.
