- Kyle Larson ($11,500) — What do the advanced stats say? The same thing your eyes see. Larson is the best driver in the Cup Series. He once embarrassed the field at the last intermediate-track race. His Kansas domination perfectly represents his stats.
- Ryan Blaney ($10,200) — A win has eluded Blaney in 2025, but speed has not. Blaney ranks first or second in all advanced stats: weighted average running position, positions gained above expectations, percentage of max speed, gain rate minus loss rate, speed score, and last segment percentage of speed.
- Tyler Reddick ($10,000) — Charlotte is one of Reddick’s best tracks. The Coca-Cola 600 is a long race. The track changes. Drivers must adapt and find fast lines. This is a dirt racer’s skill. That’s why Reddick has back-to-back top-5 finishes and five straight top-10s at Charlotte.
- Denny Hamlin ($11,000) — Could Hamlin win the Memorial Day Weekend race? Yes. Is he likely to lead the most laps? No. He can lead laps, but the No. 11 JGR Toyota isn’t a fantasy points machine.
- William Byron ($10,500) — This is Byron’s home track. He grew up just down the road. Byron has yet to win the crown jewel event. He’s been close—top-5 finishes in three of the last four.
- Alex Bowman ($8,000) — Forget what you think. The low man on the Hendrick totem pole is capable of winning the pole and the race. The worst Hendrick car is better than most of the field. The stats back it up. When it comes to passing, pure speed and late race speed, Bowman is a top-5 driver.
- Chris Buescher ($8,600) — The advanced stats check out. Buescher is top 5 in Average Finish Above Expectation, Success %, Weighted Finish Above Running Position, and ΔPOMS (percentage of max speed in segment 1 vs. segment 2). He’s top 10 in Gain Rate minus Loss Rate and Speed Score.
- Ross Chastain ($9,000) — The car is slow. The driver is fast. Chastain is prime Ryan Newman. He’s aggressive on restarts and blocking. He takes spots and does not give them away. He’s the place differential king.
- Chase Elliott ($9,500) — The racing package has changed a lot. Elliott was great in previous packages. The Gen-7 car has not been kind to Elliott at Charlotte. It’s not that he lacks speed. The package has created parity and the chaos and volatility of parity. Elliott has suffered from the latter.
- Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ($6,700) — There’s something to dirt racers. All of them run well at Charlotte. It’s not surprising for Larson, Reddick, and Bell to deliver in the Coca-Cola 600. Stenhouse is slightly surprising. He’s finished 12th or better in five of the last seven races.
- Chase Briscoe ($8,400) — The No. 19 JGR Toyota team has been exceptional at Charlotte. Can Briscoe keep up the trend? Briscoe was fast in the second segment at Kansas. His wPFARP (weighted finish above running position) was the best.
- Joey Logano ($9,200) — Charlotte has been tough on Logano. He hasn’t finished inside the top 10 since 2020. He’ll be dismissed. The truth is that Logano is top 5 in cPOMS (percent of max speed). The car is fast. A good qualifying run might make Logano a favorite.
- Jimmie Johnson ($5,500) — Practice will answer the questions: Does Jimmie have the car, and can he drive it? Low horsepower isn’t his jam, but Charlotte is. He’s not racing 600 miles for fun. He has something to prove.
- John Hunter Nemechek ($5,700) — The Coca-Cola 600 has been plagued by cautions in the Gen-7 era. That means a lot of wave-arounds and lucky dogs. The lappers will be on the lead lap. All bets are off when the final green flag waves. Nemechek finished inside the top 10 in Texas and Kansas.
- Cole Custer ($5,400) — In his four Charlotte Cup Series races, Custer has finished 21st or better. A top-20 finish at Custer’s price gets the job done. His low salary and floor allow for roster flexibility.
