Here are my top Pick6 plays for today’s MLB slate.
Kyle Schwarber More Than 0.5 Home Runs
Kyle Schwarber is once again proving that he is one of the best power hitters in baseball. He is currently tied with Shohei Ohtani for the MLB home run lead, having hit 17 so far this season. Schwarber flies under the radar compared to the likes of Ohtani and Aaron Judge, but since the start of the 2020 MLB season, only those two players have more home runs than Schwarber. This is a great pitching matchup for Schwaber to add another home run to his season tally. This game is being played at Coors Field, one of the most home run-friendly ballparks in baseball. Schwarber has also hit two home runs off of German Marquez previously in his career, totaling a .765 SLG in 17 career at-bats against the Rockies’ starter. This is the final game of a four-game series in Colorado, and Schwarber has homered in two of the three games so far. He has a great chance to add another one before this series wraps up.
Randy Arozarena More Than 0.5 RBIs
Randy Arozarena is having a solid season so far in Seattle. He was only able to play 54 games last season in his first year in Seattle, and he has almost reached that mark already this season. Through 46 games, Arozarena’s OPS+ is the highest it has been in a season since 2021. Tonight, he faces Houston’s Lance McCullers Jr. to start. Arozarena has 11 career at-bats against McCullers. In those 11 at-bats, he has five hits, including a home run. That totals out to a career .727 SLG against McCullers. Arozarena should feel confident seeing a pitcher on the mound that he has hit so well off in the past. McCullers has been away from the game for nearly 2.5 years while recovering from major surgery, and finally returned a few weeks ago. He has been unable to get going so far, pitching four innings or less in all three starts and sporting a 7.88 ERA. It has been a difficult stretch for McCullers physically and mentally, and Arozarena should be able to capitalize on that and drive in a run in this game.
Aaron Judge More Than 0.5 RBIs
Aaron Judge has been the best hitter in baseball this season, and it’s not particularly close. Judge is still batting over .400 this season, and sporting an absurd 1.246 OPS as well. Judge has always been one of the best power hitters in baseball, but his overall consistency at the plate this season has been nothing short of remarkable. There is rarely a game that goes by where he doesn’t make a contribution. Through the first two games of this series against Texas, he already has three RBIs. Judge should be able to drive in another run today against Nathan Eovaldi. Judge is 14/38 in his career against Eovaldi, including two home runs. In a familiar pitching matchup and in a series where he has continued his great hitting, he should add another RBI to his total.
Nick Castellanos More Than 0.5 RBIs
It has been a good start to the 2025 season for Nick Castellanos, who is slashing .286/.324/.413. The Phillies are starting to get hot and have taken control of first place in the NL East. The Philadelphia offense currently ranks 6th in baseball in runs scored, so the offense is firing on all cylinders. Nick Castellanos also has a great career history against today’s starter in Colorado, German Marquez. Castellanos is 5/12 with three extra-base hits in his career against Marquez. Like many power hitters, Castellanos has thrived at Coors Field in his career. Castellanos’ tOPS+ at Coors Field is the fourth-highest of any ballparks in the MLB. He has 13 RBIs in 18 career games in Denver. He has drive in a run in each of the past two games in this series and should get another one today against Marquez.
Gleyber Torres More Than 0.5 Hits
Gleyber Torres is off to a strong start to his first season in Detroit. After spending his whole career with the Yankees, Torres has taken advantage of the change of scenery. The Tigers have been the surprise team of the year in baseball, currently sporting the best record in the entire MLB through 50 games. Torres has played a key role in sparking this Detroit team, as he is currently batting .281. If he sustains that level over this season, it would be the best batting average of any season in his career. Torres also has had a lot of success against Tanner Bibee in his career. He is 4/8 all-time against Bibee, with two of those four hits going for extra bases. Bibee gave up ten hits and four runs in his previous start, so it should be a good chance for Torres and the Tigers to rack up some hits.
Hunter Goodman More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Hunter Goodman has been a breakout performer for the Rockies, despite how awful they have been as a team. Colorado is on pace for a historically bad season, and they currently have the worst record in baseball by a good margin. However, their young catcher has been one of the lone bright spots. Goodman played 93 games over the past two seasons in Colorado, but never was able to establish himself in the lineup. So far this season, he is batting .288 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs. That is the team lead in RBIs by a wide margin, and he also has the team lead in OPS by a massive gap. Goodman has been even better recently, batting .313 over the past 15 days. He also has favorable splits against left-handed pitching, which he will see today in the form of Ranger Suarez. Suarez has been very inconsistent so far this season, sporting an ERA over 5.00. Goodman should pick up multiple hits in this game, or at least an extra-base hit to get over this number.
