The Charles Schwab Challenge will be played at Colonial Country Club (par 70, 7,289 yards, bentgrass greens) this week, which has been the home of this event since 1946. This is a field of 135 golfers and there will be a standard top-65 and ties cut following the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured a make-cut parlay to consider for the Charles Schwab Challenge on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Rickie Fowler (-200) + Christian Bezuidenhout (-200) + Matt Kuchar (-175) to make the cut
While Fowler rarely contends anymore, he remains an elite cut maker. Excluding his first round withdrawal from the WM Phoenix Open in February, Fowler has only missed two cuts in his last 17 starts. The 36-year-old has advanced to the weekend at Colonial each of the last three years – including a T6 finish in 2023 – and Fowler is a very safe bet to make the cut at the par 70 this week.
Bezuidenhout has been excellent at Colonial, finishing inside the top-25 at the Texas course each of the last three seasons. Among this field, Bezuidenhout ranks 10th in strokes gained per round at Colonial. The South African returns to Fort Worth this week riding a three made cut streak. Most recently, Bezuidenhout finished T50th at the PGA Championship last week, while gaining a season-high 5.0 strokes on approach, which ranked 10th for the major. The 31-year-old has made 14 of his last 18 cuts and he ranks 24th in par four performance this season, which is great news with Colonial up next. This course is a traditional par 70 with 12 par fours and four of the last winners at Colonial have ranked top-three in par four efficiency during their victories.
Rounding out this cut parlay is the reliable Kuchar. The veteran finished T17th at Colonial last season and he has made 12-of-14 cuts at this Texas venue. Kuchar ranks 11th in strokes gained per round at Colonial among this week’s field. Additionally, he ranks fourth in strokes gained per round when we compare this field’s histories in the Lonestar State. Kuchar has only missed three cuts in his last 16 starts and this season, he ranks 23rd in SGP and 32nd in par four performance, both of which set him up well for Colonial. Not only do you need to be a strong par four player to thrive at this track, but you also need to be in compelling form with your flat stick, as each of the last seven winners at Colonial have finished the week top-seven in SGP.
