OTA’s are here, which means the 2025 NFL offseason is starting to take shape. Many teams reported on May 19th, and some will report next week. There are still many capable NFL free agents on the street for teams to acquire to boost their offense as the summer moves along, and below is my favorite remaining free agent at each position group.
Quarterback- Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers has been linked to the QB-needy Steelers all off-season, and it feels like a deal that will get done. However, it has not happened yet and until Rodgers puts pen to paper, who knows what he could decide to do with his future.
The 41-year-old is coming off of one of his worst statistical seasons and led the Jets to a 5-12 record last year. The cap hit would likely be low at this point in his career, as Rodgers has made his money in the NFL and is surely just looking to win at this point. He can still sling the rock with over 3,800 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes last season, so hopefully Mike Tomlin and the Steelers culture can get much more out of him if that is where he ends up.

Running Back- J.K. Dobbins
It’s pretty shocking that Dobbins is still available at this point in the offseason. He had a very solid year with the Chargers, rushing for 905 yards and nine touchdowns in only 13 games while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Dobbins finished in a tie for 14th among running backs with the highest yards per carry. If he played the full season, Dobbins would’ve easily amassed 1,000 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns.
The question around Dobbins is always about health, but last season he set a career-high in carries. Dobbins still has more than enough tread on the tires to be effective in 2025 and should be scooped up before training camp if he’s healthy.

Wide Reciever- Amari Cooper
Another player with major talent but major injury concerns is Amari Cooper. He played in 14 games last campaign and was traded from Cleveland to Buffalo during the season. Across the entirety of the season, he only recorded 547 yards and four touchdowns. Both of those numbers were career lows for the 30-year-old.
I still believe Cooper has some gas in the tank, however. We are only a year removed from a 1,250-yard and five-touchdown season in 2023. He had that ridiculous performance against Houston in that season, finishing a game with 265 receiving yards and two touchdowns, a Browns franchise record. We are not far removed from that, and if Cooper can stay healthy I think he can get close to the kind of player that he used to be.

Tight End- Jordan Akins
The tight-end market has practically dried up for the summer, unlike other skill position groups with a couple of solid options. Akins and Gerald Everett are the best of the bunch remaining, but I went with Akins because of their respective performances in 2024.
Akins could be a solid #2 tight end for most teams in the league, but you certainly don’t want to trot him out there as the #1 tight end. He finished last season with 390 yards as he caught 40 of his 58 targets. Akins also scored two touchdowns and is an all-around tight end as he’s also a solid blocker in the run game.
