This article will examine my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 5/20/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on the WNBA slate.
A’ja Wilson More Than 37.5 Pts + Reb
A’ja Wilson came out with a vengeance on opening night. Going up against the defending champion New York Liberty, who eliminated the Las Vegas Aces in the conference finals, they had something to prove. Though the Aces came up short, the M’VP posted a ridiculous 31 points and 16 rebounds.
The crazy thing is that it’s nothing new for Wilson. She recorded 27 points and 12 rebounds a night in her third MVP campaign. So you may be wondering, why is her number lower than her season averages from last year, especially after 47 combined on opening night?
The answer is the state of the Connecticut Sun. They lost all five starters in free-agency and are squarely in the middle of a rebuild. On top of that, their frontcourt is the building block; they signed legendary big Tina Charles to play alongside Olivia Nelson-Ododa. The combination of a potential blowout and the potency of Connecticut’s frontcourt may be a deterrence, but I’m counting on A’ja Wilson to deliver as she always does.
Caitlin Clark More Than 37.5 Pts + Rebs + Ast
I surely don’t have to tell you how quickly Caitlin Clark can fill the box score. But it seems like the books are slow in catching up to the degree of her dominance.
In the second half of her rookie campaign, Caitlin Clark averaged 22 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists. That’s 20 games where she averaged 38 combined P/R/A. She cleared that in the season opener with a 20-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. That’s despite playing fewer minutes in what was a blowout win.
Until these categories adjust, I’m hitting “more” on Caitlin Clark all day.
Jewell Loyd More Than 15.5 Points
Kelsey Plum’s departure from the Las Vegas Aces certainly hit home. A franchise legend through and through, losing that kind of player is never easy. But the loss is made easier when you can acquire the 2023 scoring champ, Jewell Loyd, in the same offseason.
Loyd’s tenure in Las Vegas got off to a tough start on opening night. She scored only five points on 2-of-10 shooting and surprisingly didn’t get to the free-throw line. Loyd was second in the league in free throws this past season. Against a Sun defense that doesn’t have nearly the same quality of perimeter defense as the New York Liberty, Jewell will get back on track tonight and erase any concerns about her fit with the Aces.
Tina Charles More Than 26.5 Pts + Reb
Tina Charles certainly has nothing left to prove—she’s the second-leading scorer of all time and the all-time leading rebounder. Now she returns to Connecticut, where it all started with a ROY and MVP award. While this may be a welcome-home retirement tour season on a rebuilding team, that doesn’t mean Charles will go quietly into that good night.
The living legend went off for 23 points and 10 boards on opening night. While she will see plenty of minutes being defended by A’ja Wilson, Charles’ bag of tricks is deep, and her motor is relentless. Though the Sun may be outmatched in this one, Charles will get hers.
