How to watch the 2025 Preakness Stakes: start time, date

With the 2025 Kentucky Derby in the books, it is time for the 150th Preakness Stakes, which will occur at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The event started in 1873, and this will be the final one at the Pimlico Race Course. In 2024, Sieze the Grey won with Jockey Jaime A Torres and Trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Sovereignty, who won the 2025 Kentucky Derby, isn’t competing at the Preakness Stakes and will compete again at the Belmont Stakes on June 7.

When is the 2025 Preakness Stakes?

The 2025 Preakness Stakes is taking place on May 17, 2025. This event is the second leg of the Triple Crown and always takes place two weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes.

How to watch?

The 2025 Preakness Stakes will air on NBC and Peacock. NBC has been the home of the Preakness Stakes since 2001. ABC broadcast the event from 1977 to 2001.

The broadcast team includes Mike Tirico, who is handling the play-by-play duties. Tirico will be joined by analysts Jerry Bailey, Randy Moss, and Eddie Olczyk. Reporters on the team include Matt Bernier, Ahmed Fareed, Britney Eurton, Donna Brothers, Kenny Rice, and Nick Luck, with race caller Larry Collmus.

What time is it?

The 2025 Preakness Stakes will air at 4:00 p.m. ET, with coverage starting at 2:00 ET. Although the broadcast will begin at 4:00 p.m. ET, the race isn’t expected to start until 6:50 p.m. ET.
