The day has finally come. Paige Bueckers will make her WNBA debut just a few weeks after being the No. 1 pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Bueckers has been considered one of the best prospects in women’s hoops since high school. She finished her collegiate career with a national championship and three All-American selections. Now, it’s time for her to take center stage in the WNBA.
Her first matchup will be against the Minnesota Lynx, who are coming off a WNBA Finals appearance in 2024. It’ll be a difficult first game, likely with some growing pains.
The Wings are 5.5-point underdogs at home, and the game total is set at 163.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Although Bueckers is considered one of the best WNBA prospects of all time, there’s still a learning curve in the WNBA. Even Caitlin Clark had some poor shooting performances early in her rookie season.
Nobody escapes a bad game, especially rookies. Bueckers is a very efficient scorer, but she’s had her fair share of off-games at UConn. Because she’s the No. 1 pick and a highly-touted player, there will be a target on her back.
Veterans will look to test her early and give her a “welcome to the league” moment. While I don’t expect this to rattle Bueckers much, it will likely force her into a playmaking role tonight.
Additionally, she’s playing alongside Arike Ogunbowale, one of the WNBA’s best scorers. Bueckers will likely be a secondary scorer when playing with Ogunbowale, at least this early in her career. She’s an excellent playmaker and will get to show off that part of her game tonight against the Lynx.
