The WNBA regular season is here, and it kicks off with a three-game slate on Friday night. The third and final game of the evening will be between the Los Angeles Sparks and Golden State Valkyries.
It’s the Valkyries’ debut game in the WNBA after the league opted to expand this past offseason. This will also be the team’s inaugural home game at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
The Sparks are 6.5-point favorites for this matchup, and the game total is set at 162.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Kelsey Plum over 5.5 assists (+110)
While the Valkyries are the headliner for this game, it’s also an important outing for Plum. The veteran guard is making her Sparks debut after spending her entire career with the Las Vegas Aces.
The Sparks brought Plum in via a three-team trade, and she’s expected to be the leader of a young Los Angeles squad. The team has some core building blocks in Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, so Plum will step in as a proven veteran to lead the group.
Plum is more known for her scoring ability, but I believe her assist numbers will increase in 2025 due to her new role. She averaged 4.2, 4.5 and 5.1 assists per game over the last three seasons on a stacked Las Vegas team.
The Sparks don’t have as many on-ball creators, which will result in Plum’s usage rate increasing. This could lead to a slight increase in her points per game averages, but I’m projecting that she takes on more of a facilitator role.
Averaging 4.2, 4.5 and 5.1 assists over the past three seasons isn’t eye-popping, but it’s notable when considering Plum was one of three backcourt facilitators on the Aces. Especially in her first game with the Sparks, her assists will be something to watch as she looks to get all her new teammates involved.
