A select six-game slate is on tap for Thursday across Major League Baseball, with 12 teams taking the field. There aren’t many squads in action, but fans will still be treated to plenty of star power. The headliner is a Lone Star State showdown, with Hunter Brown’s Astros visiting Jacob deGrom and the Rangers. Later, Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers hope to win their second straight game against the surprisingly competitive Athletics.

Jacob deGrom over 6.5 strikeouts (+105)
As previously mentioned, baseball fans will be treated to a must-watch pitcher’s duel tonight in Texas. For the Astros, emerging ace Hunter Brown (1.48 ERA) will get the nod. He’ll be opposed by none other than two-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom. Since signing with Texas in 2023, the righty has been hampered by constant health issues. Fortunately, it’s been nothing but smooth sailing in 2025. Over 43.0 innings pitched, the 36-year-old has posted a 2.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 46 strikeouts. Last time out, he whiffed ten Athletics over five innings of two-run ball.
Runs will likely be at a premium in this one, but deGrom has never garnered much run support throughout his career. Interestingly enough, Thursday marks the veteran’s first career meeting with Houston. It couldn’t come at a better time, with the team still missing slugger Yordan Alvarez (hand). In addition, the Astros have the sixth-most strikeouts against right-handed pitchers this season (281). Even if he doesn’t go much more than five innings, deGrom is more than capable of notching some K’s tonight.
Andy Pages 2+ total bases (+115)
On a loaded Dodgers lineup, it’s easy to get distracted by the stars. You know their names: Ohtani, Freeman, Betts…the list goes on. What often gets lost in the shuffle is Los Angeles’ outstanding depth. Whenever a big names gets injured (as they often do), there’s always someone ready to fill in. That was the case last year for Andy Pages, who went from bench piece to lineup regular in 2024. The outfielder has taken his play to another level this season, slashing .291/.348/.486 at the plate. In addition, he’s driven in nine home runs and 21 RBIs.
Add it all up, and it looks like another star has emerged in Hollywood. Last night, Pages went 3-for-4 at the plate, hammering a second-inning homer to left field. He’ll look to continue his offensive success in Thursday’s rubber match against the Athletics. Tonight’s starter, Osvaldo Bido, could have some difficulty navigating one of baseball’s most lethal lineups. This season, the hurler has allowed a .330 batting average to opposing right-handed hitters. All Pages needs is one extra base hit- or two singles- to clear this total.
