Here are my top Pick6 plays for today’s MLB slate.
Brent Rooker More Than 0.5 Home Runs
Brent Rooker has broken out as one of the best power hitters in baseball over the past two seasons. After a 30-home run season out of nowhere in 2023, Rooker followed that up by hitting 39 home runs in 2024. So far in 2025, Rooker is on pace to hit those types of numbers again. He has already ten home runs and could be poised to hit another one tonight against the Dodgers. Matt Sauer will take the mound for Los Angeles, and it will be Sauer’s first-career start. He was used in the bullpen by the Royals last season and finished the year with a disastrous 7.71 ERA. Since joining the Dodgers, he has been much more reliable, and has only made four bullpen appearances this season. It is a much bigger ask to come out and start a game against an Athletics lineup that is actually playing solid baseball this season. Rooker faced Sauer last season and hit a home run off of him in one of his two at-bats. Rooker should get after Sauer again and launch one out of Dodger Stadium.
Marcus Semien More Than 1.5 Total Bases
Marcus Semien will be excited to see Hunter Brown on the mound tonight. The two have faced off plenty of times in AL West battles, and Semien has gotten the better of Brown more often than not. Semien is 12-for-19 in his career against Brown, equaling out to a .632 batting average. It hasn’t been the best start to the season at the plate for Semien, so this familiar matchup could be just what he needs. He has been much better at home so far in 2025, sporting a 116 tOPS+ at Globe Life Field. Hunter Brown has been solid this season, but the couple of starts where he slipped up did come on the road, including giving up three runs to the lowly White Sox earlier this month. Semien should be able to pick up a hit against Brown, which will hopefully go for extra bases.
Gunnar Henderson More Than 0.5 RBIs
The Orioles have been struggling so far this season, and they need to find a spark. In this home day game against the Twins, Gunnar Henderson could be that guy. Chris Paddack is on the mound for the Twins, whom Henderson has hit well off of in the past. He is 3-for-4 with a home run in his career against Paddack, a good indicator that a big game could be coming for him today. Henderson is also on fire heading into this game. In his past five games, Henderson is batting .409 with three home runs and seven RBIs. Henderson has also been significantly better at home this season, rocking a 156 tOPS+ at Camden Yards. He has also been way better against right-handed pitching, with a 148 tOPS+ against righties. Meanwhile, Chris Paddack has been awful on the road, sporting a 6.87 ERA when away from home.
Adolis Garcia More Than 0.5 RBIs
Adolis Garcia has been one of the best power hitters in baseball over the past few years. Since breaking onto the scene in 2021, he ranks 13th in the MLB in home runs. He has hit at least 25 home runs in all four of those seasons, putting him in elite company around the league. So far this season, he’s on pace to have a very similar season to his solid 2024 campaign. Garcia also has strong career numbers against Hunter Brown. Garcia is 5-for-15 with two home runs in his career against Brown, equaling out to a .733 slugging percentage. Garcia had two RBIs on Wednesday night against the Rockies and should carry that momentum into this series, picking up another RBI against the Astros.
Ozzie Albies More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Ozzie Albies is poised for a big game against the Nationals today. Trevor Williams is on the bump for Washington, somebody Albies has seen often in his career. Albies is 5-for-16 in his career against Williams, with two of those five hits going for extra bases. Albies is a speedster on the bases and plays an integral part in this Atlanta offense. So far this season, he ranks third on the team in hits, second in runs scored and has even hit five home runs. Albies is a switch-hitter, but has been much better as a left-handed batter against right-handed pitching this season than vice-versa. He has a 121 tOPS+ against right-handed pitching in 2025. It has been a rough season for Trevor Williams. He has a 5.88 ERA and has given up at least four earned runs in each of his past three starts. Albies should get on base and score runs in this game against a pitcher that he has fared well against in the past.
Trevor Williams More Than 5.5 Hits Against
As mentioned above, it has been a rough 2025 season for Trevor Williams. His ERA is at 5.88 and he has given up a home run in five of eight starts. However, the real problem is how much contact he is giving up. He is averaging 6.6 hits against him across his eight starts this season. He has given up at least five hits in seven of his eight starts. Williams will have to face some hitters who have had great success against him in the past, such as Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies. While he has been poor across the board, he has been even worse on the road, sporting a 6.30 ERA away from home in 2025. The Braves should be able to get in a rhythm against Williams and pick up more than 5.5 hits before forcing him out of the game.
