Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon didn’t receive any love in Clutch Player of the Year voting, but if the voting was done after the postseason, Gordon certainly might. He has made two game-winners already these playoffs, hitting a dagger buzzer-beating dunk against the LA Clippers in Game 4 during the first round and making a three-pointer from the left wing in the dying seconds of Game 1 of the semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Denver, now down 3-2 to the 68-win Thunder, will need some more heroics from Gordon if it wants to make the conference finals for the second time in three seasons. Gordon has had two 22-point performances this series, as well as two 15-plus-rebound performances, and he’s played good defense on both Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren.

Aaron Gordon O1.5 Three-Pointers Made (-120)
Gordon has settled in perfectly as a “role player superstar” in recent years in large part because his shot has dramatically improved. After being an average-to-below-average three-point shooter for the majority of his career, he took a huge leap during the 2024-25 season, nailing 43.6% of his threes, the sixth-best mark among 243 players to attempt at least 150 tries from deep. He’s carried that hot shooting into the playoffs, where he’s tried 4.3 three-pointers per game and connected at a nearly 40% rate, making two or more threes in each of the first four games of the series before a one-for-five effort on Tuesday.
His four missed threes in Game 5 were mostly a product of shooting luck, as three of his five attempts (and two of his four misses) came with the nearest defender more than six feet away, a shot that he hit at a 43.1% clip in the regular season. He also missed his only three-pointer with the nearest defender between four and six feet away. But his shot diet is healthy; one-third of his three-point attempts this series have come in the corner. 16 of his 20 made threes so far these playoffs have been assisted, and he has chemistry with both Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, having been assisted 20 times by Jokić and 16 by Murray.

Although Gordon is mostly known for his athleticism, his game is fairly well-rounded, and he’s shown off both his rebounding and playmaking prowess this series, having recorded 11 or more combined assists and rebounds in three of the five games so far this series. His 14 boards in Game 1 were critical as Denver out-rebounded Oklahoma City by 20, and even though the Nuggets were out-rebounded overall, his 16 boards in Game 4 included seven offensive rebounds, and they directly led to four extra points for the team.
So far this series, Gordon has leveraged his athleticism on the glass to win one-on-one battles; of the 16 conference semifinals participants who have averaged at least seven rebounds per game, Gordon’s are contested at the fourth-highest rate. He also snags available rebounds at the third-highest level of those 16 players. Also, Gordon’s teammates are just 25-for-76 (32.9%) off of his passes this series, so he’s arguably been more unlucky not to have racked up more assists than the 16 that he has. He’s also increased his potential assists from 13 combined between the first two games to 9.0 per game since.
