The PGA TOUR heads to Charlotte, North Carolina this week for the PGA Championship. Quail Hollow Club will be the host course, and measures as a 7,626-yard par 71 with a mix of Bermuda/Poa Trivialis overseeded greens.
Being that this is a major championship, the field is of course stacked. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +425, while Rory McIlroy (+500) and Bryson DeChambeau (+900) round out the top of the board.
Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.
Collin Morikawa to win (+2500)
Morikawa feels like a bit of a forgotten man this week, which to be fair, is because he has not won on the PGA TOUR since the 2023 ZOZO Championship. I am not reading too much into this, because as we know, it’s quite hard to win on the PGA TOUR, and Morikawa has been knocking on the door for a while now.
The 2020 PGA Champion already has a pair of runner-up finishes this year, including at the very difficult Arnold Palmer Invitational, where Russell Henley chipped in for eagle late to steal the trophy. Overall in 2025, Morikawa has finished worse than T17 just one time in eight starts.
His ball-striking this season has stellar as usual — especially lately — as he sits 10th in this field in SG: Off-the-Tee and seventh in SG: Approach over his past 16 rounds. It’s been his short game and putter that’s let him down for the majority of the year. However, Morikawa gained 3.6 strokes on the greens last week at Philadelphia Cricket Club, which was his best showing with the flat stick since the Genesis Invitational in February.
The number on him has drifted all the way to 25/1, which is crazy considering we’re talking about a two-time major champion here. For what it’s worth, Morikawa also finished T4 last year’s PGA Championship at Valhalla, which is basically a carbon copy of Quail Hollow (7,600 yards, par 71).
Viktor Hovland to win (+5000)
Hovland has always raised his baseline at long, difficult golf courses in his career, and his major championship results bare that out. The Norwegian has four top-seven finishes across his past 10 major starts, including in each of the past two renditions of the PGA Championship.
Hovland’s golf game has been all over the place for the majority of this season, but he did finally get back in the winner’s circle four starts ago back at the Valspar Championship. The one constant even through his trials and tribulations has been his elite iron-play, where he ranks fifth in SG: Approach in this field over the past 16 rounds.
Hovland’s history at Quail Hollow has also been good to start his career, as he posted a T3 in 2021 and T24 last year. When he’s on his game, Hovland has one of the highest ceilings of any golfer in the world, and getting him at 50/1 at course that suits his game is one of the better values you’re going to find this week.
