MLB Prop Bets for Wednesday, May 14, 2025

Antonio Senzatela under 15.5 outs recorded -120

Recording 5.1 innings feels like a daunting task for Antonio Senzatela, who has achieved this mark in only two of his eight starts this season. His last such outing was nearly a month ago, when he pitched six innings against the Nationals on April 20. Senzatela relies heavily on his fastball and slider, throwing them a combined 76% of the time. However, these pitches are ineffective, with opponents posting a .404 wOBA against his four-seam fastball and a .466 wOBA against his slider. While the Rangers’ offense has been lackluster thus far, Senzatela’s inability to generate efficient outs remains a significant concern.

San Diego Padres over 4.5 runs -125

The Angels’ bullpen is woefully ineffective, making the over on opposing team totals a consistent betting strategy for me. Additionally, Kyle Hendricks starts this game, and I favor the Padres in this matchup. Hendricks has continued his struggles from last season, posting a 5.30 ERA, a 4.61 xERA, and a 5.54 FIP. His fly ball rate has surged from 34% last year to 44% this season, a concerning trend for a pitcher whose primary pitch is a sinker.

The Angels’ bullpen has been abysmal. Through May, across 37 innings, they have a combined 11.19 ERA, a 7.37 FIP, a 4.3 BB/9, and a 3.4 HR/9. Unsurprisingly, with these figures, they’ve allowed the most earned runs in the league at 46, 13 more than any other team.

Mookie Betts over 1.5 bases +115

Mookie Betts faces Athletics starter Gunnar Hoglund. Limited data is available for Hoglund, who has only two starts, but right-handed hitters have already posted a .433 wOBA against him. He primarily relies on his four-seam fastball and changeup. Betts thrives against both pitches, recording at least a .389 wOBA against each. In May, Betts has exceeded 1.5 total bases in six of his 11 games played.
