15 games between 30 teams are on tap today across Major League Baseball. With so much talent taking the field, there’s ample opportunity to place some player props. That includes a few NRFI wagers (No Runs in the First Inning); in the blink of an eye, bettors can cash in. However, figuring out which pitchers thrive early, and which lineups struggle, is key.
Ahead of Wednesday’s MLB action, here are two NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Marlins at Cubs (-130)
The vibes are immaculate in the Windy City, at least for the North Siders. This season, the Cubs lead the National League with 5.65 runs per game, powering the team to a 25-18 record. Pitching hasn’t been quite as good for Chicago, but there are still plenty of quality arms on this roster. That includes Jameson Taillon, owner of a 4.53 ERA through eight starts in 2025. While the veteran isn’t the most consistent, he does start games strong. Dating back to last season, Jamo has posted a 1.50 first inning ERA .
Taillon should have little difficulty continuing that streak against a subpar opponent. This season, the Marlins have an NRFI rate of 75.61%, sixth-highest in baseball. The biggest question tonight for bettors is whether the Fish can contain this Cubs offense. Taking the mound for Miami is Ryan Weathers, making his first appearance of the season. The right-hander was solid last season, notching a 3.63 ERA over 16 outings. During that time, he allowed just one first inning run (0.63 ERA). It’s never great going against Chicago’s lineup, but the numbers here support a slow start at the plate.
Rockies at Rangers (-110)
Seeing the Rockies struggle on offense this season isn’t exactly a shock for most fans. Colorado ranks 29th in runs scored per game (3.21) despite playing their home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field. What may come as a surprise is how bad the Rangers have been at the plate; Texas is 28th in runs per game (3.40). Right now, these are two of baseball’s worst lineups.
The biggest difference between these two sides is on the mound. Texas will send out Patrick Corbin, currently enjoying a renaissance in the Lone Star State. Through six starts, the veteran has posted a respectable 3.31 ERA. He’ll take on a Rockies lineup that’s accounted for the second-highest NRFI rate in baseball (78.57%). The visitors will hand the ball to veteran Antonio Senzatela, owner of a ghastly 5.77 ERA. That mark, while awful, might not matter. The Rangers are anemic at Globe Life Field, recording the third-highest NRFI rate at home this season. As long as Colorado’s hurler does his job, this bet has a strong chance at cashing in.
