Golf Best Bets: Make Cut Parlay for the PGA Championship

For the second of four majors this season, the PGA Championship will be played at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,625 yards, POA trivialis greens) in Charlotte, North Carolina. This venue hosted the 2017 PGA Championship and the Wells Fargo Championship from 2003-2024, except in 2017, 2020 and 2022. There will be 156 players competing at the PGA Championship and a top-70 and ties cut after the first two rounds.

Below, I have featured a make-cut parlay to consider for the PGA Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Sepp Straka + Denny McCarthy + Bud Cauley + J.T. Poston to make the cut (+546)

Straka finished T-8 at Quail Hollow last season and he returns to the par 71 playing the best golf of his career. Straka picked up his second win of the season at the Truist Championship last week and he has advanced to the weekend in 12 of his 14 starts. This season, Straka ranks second only to Rory McIlroy in FedEx Cup points and Straka ranks second in SG APP. Plus, he has made 3-of-4 cuts at the PGA Championship. The Austrian sits at a career-best No. 9 in the world golf rankings and Straka should have been far more favored than -215 to make the cut this week.

Next up is the very reliable McCarthy, who has made 16 straight cuts. The veteran hasn’t missed a cut since last July and McCarthy has finished T-8 and T-6 at Quail Hollow the last two years. McCarthy has only missed one cut in five tries at the PGA Championship and he should continue his elite cut-making ways at Quail Hollow this week.

Cauley has been outstanding this season. The Alabama product has made 8-of-9 cuts and he has shot even par or better in 30 of his 34 rounds. Impressively, Cauley ranks seventh in total strokes gained and 16th in SGT2G. The 35-year-old has moved up 220 spots in the world golf rankings since the start of the season and he has advanced to the weekend in each of his last two starts at the PGA Championship.

Lastly is Poston, who has been extremely consistent over the past year. The 31-year-old has only failed to make the cut once in his last 16 starts and that rare occurrence came at the Sony Open in January, when Poston only missed the cut by one stroke. The three-time PGA TOUR winner has advanced to the weekend in two of his last three starts at Quail Hollow and Poston has made 3-of-5 cuts at PGA Championships for his career. Poston hasn’t shot over par in eight consecutive rounds and he has a terrific chance of advancing through the cut in this form.
