The PGA Championship is being held at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,625 yards, POA trivialis greens) in Charlotte, North Carolina this week. This course hosted the Wells Fargo Championship from 2003-2024, except in 2017, 2020, and 2022. In 2017, the PGA Championship was played at Quail Hollow and Justin Thomas (-8) won that week. There will be 156 players competing and a top-70 and ties cut following the first two rounds.

Xander Schauffele ($10,700)
While Schauffele is the defending champion of the PGA Championship, he is likely to get overlooked among the $10K+ players, with Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau soaking up most of the ownership in this price range. Schauffele likely will come with single-digit ownership in the Millionaire Maker, and given this, he is an incredible option for the contest. Including two wins, Schauffele has finished inside the top-eight at five majors in a row.
Schauffele missed the start of this season with a rib injury and after a few questionable performances to begin his campaign, he has regained his form. In Schauffele’s last four starts, he has finished T12th, T8th, T18th and T11th, in that order. Schauffele gained strokes on approach at all these events, and he has shot under par in 13 of these 16 rounds, including a 4-under 66 to close out last week’s Truist Championship. Looking to carry this momentum over to Quail Hollow, Schauffele should once again contend at the famous track. In his last two starts at Quail Hollow, Schauffele has finished runner-up both times.
Viktor Hovland ($9,800)
With the chalky Justin Thomas just slightly more expensive at $9,900, Hovland should be a forgotten man this week. Highlighted by a T3 in 2021, Hovland has never missed a cut at Quail Hollow in four starts, and he has carded three finishes of T21 or better in his last four starts, most notably with a win at the Valspar Championship in March.
This season, Hovland ranks 11th in SG APP, and he has gained strokes on approach in all nine of his starts. Each of the last four winners at Quail Hollow have finished the week top-12 in SG APP. If Hovland can find some luck with putter to combine with his elite ball striking, he has top-five upside.
Justin Rose ($8,000)
After withdrawing from the Truist Championship during the second round with an illness last week, Rose should come with little-to-no ownership at the PGA Championship. While the veteran isn’t the most consistent player anymore, Rose saves his energy for the most important events, and he brings great upside this week with this being a major. This season, Rose has finished inside the top-eight three times and two of these finishes came at Signature Events – which feature the PGA TOUR’s best players competing for a $20 million purse – while the other finish came at the Masters, when Rose lost in a playoff to Rory McIlroy.
This was Rose’s second consecutive runner-up finish at a major, and he has finished T13th or better at four straight PGA Championships. Rose should be geared up to add another high finish to his impressive major resume this week, and Quail Hollow is the perfect place for him to do so. In his last four starts at the par 71, Rose has finished inside the top-five three times.
Brian Harman ($7,400)
Harman is never a popular target in these world-class fields – he was only owned by 4.2% of the field in the Millionaire Maker for the Masters – and he is a great bargain at this affordable salary. Harman is having a terrific season that has flown under the radar. The veteran has made 11-of-13 cuts with five top-25 finishes, including a win at the Valero Texas Open last month and a T3 at the RBC Heritage two weeks later.
Harman knows Quail Hollow very well, and he should provide a solid finish at the par 71. Harman has made 9-of-11 cuts at Quail Hollow, and five of these finishes have been top-25 results, including a T13 at the 2017 PGA Championship.
Andrew Novak ($6,600)
With Novak only having one major start on his resume and no previous experience at Quail Hollow, he is going to be very low owned in the Millionaire Maker this week. While his lack of experience isn’t ideal, Novak heads to Quail Hollow playing some of the best golf of this entire field. In his last four starts, Novak has finished T3rd, runner-up, first, and T17th. That win came at the team based Zurich Classic with Ben Griffin as his partner, but as you can see from his other recent results, Novak’s first solo win is coming soon.
Novak has shot under par in nine of his last 12 solo rounds, including a 6-under 64 in the final round of last week’s Truist Championship, which was the lowest score on Sunday among the world-class field at this Signature Event. Novak ranks fourth in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 12 rounds, and he brings tremendous upside relative to his low salary.
