It would be an understatement to say the National League West is chaotic. Eight teams in the NL are above .500, and four of them reside in the West. The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks are two such teams. In this wild West, every inter-division game is crucial.

Neither team can match the firepower of the Los Angeles Dodgers, or even the San Diego Padres, but they’re firmly in competition for playoff spots this year. These early games will dictate how aggressive each team will be at the trade deadline. Though it’s only May, the importance of these games cannot be overstated.

The Giants and Diamondbacks enter even at -110 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The run total is set at 8. Let’s take a look at the best bets for Sunday’s game.

Pick and Prediction

Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 (+154)

Though the Giants have been the better team this year, they’re slumping and will turn to a struggling starter at the worst time. Jordan Hicks is struggling to a 5.82 ERA this season, his second campaign as a starting pitcher.

The problem for Hicks has been the big inning. When it rains, it pours, and the runs accumulate quickly. Well, the Diamondbacks have the kind of offense that can pounce. It could be a tough outing for Hicks if he struggles with his command.
