Things couldn’t have looked more dire for the Carolina Panthers going into last season. After trading up for Bryce Young, the team went 2-15, forking over the No. 1 pick to the Chicago Bears. Their new franchise quarterback ceded starts to backup Andy Dalton, and it looked like all was lost.
Then came the second half of this past season. Despite their 5-12 record, Carolina went 4-5 to close the season, including one-score losses to Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and Philadelphia. Young played great football despite a lack of weapons and offensive line quality. A 4-5 record isn’t winning you any titles, but it’s a start. With their new star receiver in Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina is hoping to make some noise in the NFC South.
