Ohtani is once again in the midst of a stellar season, but what’s new? The 30-year-old’s slash line reads .308/.410/.641, nearly identical to last year’s numbers but with a better on-base percentage thus far. His 1.051 OPS also comes in as the second-best mark of his career to this point.
The reigning NL MVP’s .410 OBP sits just shy of his career-high of .412 set in 2023. Since he’s reaching base at such a high rate, this means total bases looks like one of tonight’s most attractive prop bets for Ohtani. He ranks third in the entire MLB with 100 total bases on the campaign, ranking just behind Corbin Carroll and Aaron Judge. Over his last 10 games, Ohtani’s been on a hot streak in the stat category as well — he’s tallied over 1.5 total bases in eight of those 10 contests with an average of 3.6 total bases per outing.
Clearly, this presents an opportunity to follow the streak and ride the hot hand in tonight’s matchup. Left-hander Jeffrey Springs will take the mound for the Athletics in this one having allowed 37 hits and six home runs across 39.1 innings of work.
