With a 27-14 record on the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers maintain sole possession of the MLB’s best winning percentage. The team boasts plenty of star power, but nobody receives more headlines and hype than slugger Shohei Ohtani.

The Dodgers face off with the Athletics on the road tonight with first pitch scheduled for 10:10 p.m. EST. Los Angeles enters as -198 favorites on the Moneyline with a game total of 9.5 combined runs.

Here’s the top Shohei Ohtani prop bet for the West Coast action.

Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases (-125)

Ohtani is once again in the midst of a stellar season, but what’s new? The 30-year-old’s slash line reads .308/.410/.641, nearly identical to last year’s numbers but with a better on-base percentage thus far. His 1.051 OPS also comes in as the second-best mark of his career to this point.

The reigning NL MVP’s .410 OBP sits just shy of his career-high of .412 set in 2023. Since he’s reaching base at such a high rate, this means total bases looks like one of tonight’s most attractive prop bets for Ohtani. He ranks third in the entire MLB with 100 total bases on the campaign, ranking just behind Corbin Carroll and Aaron Judge. Over his last 10 games, Ohtani’s been on a hot streak in the stat category as well — he’s tallied over 1.5 total bases in eight of those 10 contests with an average of 3.6 total bases per outing.

Clearly, this presents an opportunity to follow the streak and ride the hot hand in tonight’s matchup. Left-hander Jeffrey Springs will take the mound for the Athletics in this one having allowed 37 hits and six home runs across 39.1 innings of work. While not a stellar matchup, the Athletics also give up the fifth-most hits of any team this season, so Ohtani might do some work against the bullpen. Taking him to record over 1.5 total bases feels great at -125 odds, especially with how great he’s played lately.
