The second major of the season has finally arrived with the PGA Championship. Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,625 yards, POA trivialis greens) in Charlotte, North Carolina, will host the PGA Championship this week, which was also the site of the 2017 PGA Championship. Additionally, Quail Hollow was the home of the Wells Fargo Championship from 2003-2024, except in 2017, 2020 and 2022. There will be 156 golfers competing at the PGA Championship this week and there will be a top-70 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured some finishing position bets to consider for the PGA Championship.
Tyrrell Hatton for a Top-20 finish including ties (+140)
Hatton always rises to the occasion of competing at major championships. The Englishman finished T-14 at the Masters last month and he has finished inside the top-20 in six of his last 12 starts at a major. Also, before joining the LIV Golf league, Hatton finished T-3 in his final start at Quail Hollow in 2023. During that finish, Hatton gained strokes in every major category and he posted a 6-under 65 during the second round, which finished in a tie for the lowest score of that day.
As for his form, Hatton has finished T-5 and T-13 in his last two starts on the LIV Tour and he ranks second for the circuit in GIR% this season. Hatton has shot under par in nine of his last 10 rounds and he is a sharp bet for a top-20 finish this weekend at this +140 price.
Bud Cauley for a top-40 finish (+175)
Cauley has finished inside the top-40 in four of his six starts at Quail Hollow and the veteran has been great this season making 8-of-9 cuts, with seven of these finishes being results of T-32 or better. Cauley notably carded three straight top-six finishes between March and April, and he ranks seventh in total strokes gained this season.
Ranking seventh in SG APP, Cauley’s iron play has been his backbone this season and his flat stick has also been strong, with Cauley ranking 24th in SGP. The 35-year-old has gained strokes on approach and with his putter at four events in a row, and Cauley should comfortably finish inside the top-40 this week in this type of form. At Quail Hollow, each of the last four winners have finished the tournament top-12 in both SG APP and SGP.
