Major League Baseball has a nice 20-team player pool for Tuesday night’s main DFS fantasy baseball slate, which gets rolling at 7:07 p.m. ET. Three of the 10 games are divisional matchups with a few fun interleague series in the mix as well. With plenty of good options to consider, you may need to save some salary at a few spots. It’s always important to double-check weather conditions and lineups before game-time, especially when looking for values who are often playing as part of a timeshare. Sometimes values can be dramatically impacted by their lineup position as well, since hitting in premium lineup positions creates more opportunities for run production.

SP Ben Brown, Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins, $7,500
Brown has been in my picks several times this season because of his strong strikeout upside. The 25-year-old righty is 3-3 in his eight games this season with a 4.95 ERA, but a 3.33 FIP and 10.9 K/9 that show he has good upside. He has over 14 fantasy points in four of his last five starts and has totaled 29 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings over that span.
Brown had a season-high nine strikeouts in his last start but also gave up three runs in five innings against the Giants. He earned 18.5 fantasy points despite taking the loss.
On Tuesday, he’ll make a home start against the Marlins, who have been much better offensively this year but still are a slightly above-average matchup. They rank in the top 10 in the MLB in K%, so I’m chasing Brown’s strikeout ceiling in this matchup Tuesday.
3B/OF Addison Barger, Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays, $2,700
Barger is another player I’ve been in on throughout this season, and his results are starting to catch up with his strong advanced metrics. He has a 52.3% hard-hit rate and 96.1 mph average exit velocity that would rank him near the top of the league if he had enough at-bats to qualify. He has a xBA of .300 but only a .241 batting average on the season, showing his strong contact hasn’t always led to positive results.
Lately, though, his numbers are catching up. He is 8-for-18 (.444) in his last five games and has moved up in the batting order, hitting third on Sunday against the Mariners. He hit his first home run of the season in that game and totaled 21 fantasy points, giving him an average of 17 fantasy points per game in the three-game set in Seattle.
He’ll look to stay hot as he and the Jays come home to face Shane Baz ($8,000) and the Rays. His versatility and eligibility at 3B and in the outfield make him easy to fit into many roster builds.
SS Jordan Lawlar, Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants, $2,000
Lawlar was one of the top prospects in the Diamondbacks’ system for the last few years. He was originally rising to the majors alongside Corbin Carroll ($5,800) as part of the Snakes’ next core, but he was detoured by multiple injuries last year and hardly played at all. He didn’t play a single MLB game and posted uninspiring numbers in the minors.
This year, though, Lawlar has bounced back in a big way. In 37 games in Triple-A for the Reno Aces, he hit an impressive .336 with six home runs, 15 doubles, two triples, 13 stolen bases, and a .433 wOBA. Lawlar was called up over the weekend, but he doesn’t have a clear everyday spot in the lineup and didn’t get into the team’s game on Monday.
When he does play, Lawlar has a sky-high ceiling with both power and speed potential. If he finds his way into Tuesday’s lineup with his salary at the minimum, he’ll be an outstanding play with lots of upside that also allows you to spend up in other spots.
