The season is flying by as we arrive at PGA Championship week for the second major of 2025. Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina will host, and measures as a 7,626-yard par 71 with greens consisting of a mix of Bermuda and Poa Trivialis overseed. This course is actually a regular stop on the PGA TOUR circuit, as it hosts the Wells Fargo Championship every year.
Outside of THE PLAYERS, this is usually the best field that we will see all season in professional golf. Pretty much every golfer ranked inside the top-100 in the world will be here, while we even have 15 guys from LIV in attendance as well.
Below, I have outlined three of my favorite DraftKings plays for the week.

Rory McIlroy ($12,200)
With the $5,000 salary floor implemented by DraftKings, McIlroy becomes a lot easier to jam in this week at his elevated price tag. What more needs to be said at this point? He’s already won three times this year in just seven starts, including at Pebble Beach, THE PLAYERS and the Masters, while posting two other top-seven finishes at the Houston Open and last week’s Truist Championship.
Even if McIlroy was not coming in with those results, he’d still be a slam dunk this week due to his absolutely absurd history at Quail Hollow (Wells Fargo Championship). In 11 starts here dating back to 2012, the Northern Irishman has finished outside the top-10 only three times. In that stretch he has three wins, a runner-up and two top-fives. He’s also posted four top-12 PGA Championship finishes across his past six starts at this event as well.
McIlroy appears to be a man on a mission this year, and now that he’s finally gotten the monkey off his back by winning at Augusta, the flood gates might have blown open. Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau will likely be extremely relevant this week, but there’s no one playing better golf in the world right now than McIlroy.
The scariest part about McIlroy right now is how elite of a putter he’s become, as he currently ranks sixth on the PGA TOUR this season in SG: Putting. When you combine that with the fact he might be the greatest driver of the golf ball in the history of the sport, along with ranking as a top-20 iron player this year, you have a true android-esque golfer.
Fade at your own risk this week.
Daniel Berger ($7,900)
I am running out of superlatives to describe Berger at this point. He posted another gem last week at Philadelphia Cricket Club, finishing T11 and gaining 5.1 strokes on approach and 1.7 more off the tee. He’s now finished T30 or better in each of his past nine starts, with five top-15s and a pair of top-three finishes in that stretch.
During this run, Berger ranks 18th in this field in SG: Ball-Striking, ninth in SG: Tee-to-Green and sixth in Total Strokes Gained. The only five golfers who rank ahead of him in the latter category are Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Sepp Straka, Shane Lowry and Collin Morikawa. Three of those guys have won already this season (Straka twice), while the other two have four combined runner-ups. All this to say, Berger is absolutely going to win soon, it’s only a matter of time.
His PGA Championship history is not particularly special, but he does have two top-13 finishes in eight career starts, while making the cut all four times he’s played the Wells Fargo Championship. With the way he’s been playing this year, Berger should be $9,000+ in this spot, so the fact he’s only $7,900 makes him quite possibly the best play on the entire slate.
No need to overthink this one.
Keith Mitchell ($6,200)
Like Berger, this one also feels like a layup. Mitchell is only $700 more than Michael Block this week, who everyone might remember from the 2023 PGA Championship. Block is a Club Pro, and while he is an incredible golfer in his own right, he simply has absolutely no business being priced around actual PGA TOUR professionals.
This $6,200 price tag is equally egregious because of how well Mitchell is playing right now. The visored one is coming off a T7 at the Truist Championship last week, which was on the heels of a runner-up finish at the Corales Puntacana Championship in his prior start. Overall, he has seven top-30 finishes across 11 starts in 2025.
Usually not known for his elite approach-play, Mitchell has been striping his irons of late, gaining in that department in each of his past five measured starts dating back to THE PLAYERS. During that stretch, he ranks 16th in this field in SG: Approach and 15th in SG: Ball-Striking.
We can put a bow on this by looking at Mitchell’s history at Quail Hollow, where he’s made four-of-five cuts and posted a pair of top-eight finishes since 2018. Any way you slice it, Mitchell is not close to being priced appropriately this week, and will likely be very chalky because of it.
Ownership aside, he is a very tough fade.
