Rory McIlroy might be having the best year of his life in 2025. The Northern Irishman completed the career Grand Slam last month by winning the Masters in a playoff against Justin Rose. He has also won The Players Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this year.
The world #2 has had a great season, but now things could start to get really special. He is heading to his favorite course on the planet for the 2025 PGA Championship, a course where he is a four-time winner. McIlroy has won at Quail Hollow in 2010, 2015, 2021, and most recently 2024. They may as well rename the course Rory McIlroy Golf Club. If he wins this weekend, the name change would be fully deserved.
On DraftKings SportsBook, McIlroy is +500 to win the tournament, only trailing Scotty Scheffler at +425 odds.
Below is my favorite bet for McIlroy in the 2025 PGA Championship.
Not only has Rory played extremely well at this golf course over the years, but he’s in fine form at the moment. Not including the Zurich Classic because it’s a team event, McIlroy has finished T7 or better in each of his last four starts. As mentioned before, he has three wins this season and leads the PGA TOUR FedExCup points list. He is second on the tour in scoring average, second in SG: Total and third in driving distance. All of these factors indicate one thing: McIlroy is going to play well this week.
I will be taking him to finish in the top 5 (including ties) at +100 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.
McIlroy has played 13 tournaments on the PGA Tour at Quail Hollow, finishing in the top 5 on six occasions. His most recent outing was in the Wells Fargo Championship in 2024, beating the rest of the field by five clear shots. Between his recent form this season and his history at the golf course, it’s hard to imagine his name not being near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.
