With Steph Curry sidelined for tonight’s Game 3 between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, the weight of the world lies upon Jimmy Butler’s shoulders. He came to the Bay Area looking to step in as the Robin to Curry’s Batman, but without a co-star in the lineup, Butler himself must play a hero’s role and carry his team.

The Warriors play at home tonight, but without Curry in the lineup, they’re +5.5 underdogs at +180 to win on the Moneyline. The game total sits at a combined 200.5 points.
DraftKings Sportsbook lists Edwards’ prop lines at 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers. His combined PTS + REB + AST line is currently 36.5.
Through eight games in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Butler averages 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per outing. He’s shooting 44.3% from the field, and while his 3P% of 32.1% doesn’t look great, he’s getting to the free-throw line over six times per game to make up for it. The stats don’t tell the whole story, though, as Butler will now see the lion’s share of responsibility on offense with Curry out.
There’s a couple of ways to play Butler now that he’s stepping into the 1A role for Golden State. One option is a simple points prop play of over 23.5 points. At -110 odds, there’s decent enough value here considering that Butler should finish first or second on the team in shot attempts tonight. However, Rudy Gobert is a deterrent in the paint where Butler loves to drive, and it’s not like he’s a great threat from long range, either.
With that said, Butler’s assists over looks like a better choice. While the +105 odds aren’t spectacular value either, Butler has exceeded the 6.5-assist line in three of eight playoff games (really three of seven since he only played eight minutes in one). Sure, Buddy Hield’s role should grow tonight, but he’s a spot-up shooter and the Warriors don’t have another truly reliable ball-handler aside from Butler and Brandin Podziemski. They’d almost certainly rather the rock in Butler’s hands thanks to his extensive playoff resume, so as the Timberwolves key on him tonight, watch for him to take advantage and dice up the defense for at least seven dimes.
