While it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock considering he logged 19.3 second-half minutes in Thursday’s Game 2 victory over the Warriors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Anthony Edwards will play in Saturday’s Game 3 at Golden State.
It was a scary moment for Timberwolves fans when Edwards went down in the second quarter in Game 2. Initially, Edwards was listed as questionable to return, but the former first-overall pick played through the pain and eventually led Minnesota to a massive win with 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds. For the postseason as a whole, Edwards leads the Timberwolves in points per game (25.3) and usage rate (27.6%), though he has had some issues with efficiency, shooting just 42.2% from the field.
If Edwards is at all less than 100%, look for Julius Randle to pick up the slack. In the playoffs, Randle’s registered a 27.4% usage rate with Edwards off the court. Donte DiVincenzo has also been a focal point of Minnesota’s offensive attack with Edwards on the bench.
