The Timberwolves are hosting the Warriors for Game 2 of their second round series Thursday and DraftKings is offering some huge contests for this Showdown slate. PF, Jimmy Butler, Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves, $11,200 ($16,800 CPT)
Stephen Curry (hamstring) will be out tonight, making Butler a must-play for this Showdown slate and the best player to roster as your captain. With Curry only available for 12.5 minutes in Game 1, Butler was two assists shy of a triple-double and posted 51.75 FPTS across 41.2 minutes. If we include this game, the wing has scored at least 44 FPTS in three of the four games Butler has played without Curry since being traded to the Warriors at the deadline.
With Curry off the floor this season, Butler’s usage and assist rates increase 3.8 and 8.7 percentage points, respectively, both of which are team-highs. These expanded rates lift Butler to 1.3 FPTS per minute, which is also a team-high for this situation. The veteran has had some huge performances against the Timberwolves since leaving the club in 2019 and Butler should once again flourish in front of the Minnesota faithful in Game 2 with possibly over 50 FPTS.
SG/SF, Gary Payton II, Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves, $4,400 ($6,600 CPT)
After Curry exited in Game 1, Payton posted 22.75 FPTS across 25.5 minutes. The defensive specialist started the second half in place of the injured Curry and received 16.7 minutes in that half. Payton should start in Game 2 and approach 30 minutes, putting him in great position to out produce his cheap salary with ease.
Payton is scoring 1.0 FPTS per minute this season and he is shooting 52.8% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc during the playoffs. Payton is amassing 24.1 FPTS per game for the last five times he has logged over 20 minutes and he is the No.1 value available for this Showdown slate.
PF/C, Naz Reid, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors, ($9,900)
Outside of Anthony Edwards, Reid has been the most effective Timberwolves’ player against the Warriors this season. The big man recorded 30.25 FPTS across 33 minutes in Game 1 and Reid is averaging 29.3 FPTS per game in five matchups with Golden State this season. The 25-year-old being a versatile big who can stretch the floor with his three-point shot makes Reid an important piece for Minnesota in this matchup against the Warriors, as Golden State is a team that prefers to mostly use small ball lineups.
Reid should see roughly 30 minutes of action in Game 2 and he has a ceiling over 30 FPTS, especially with this contest being on his home floor. Reid is generating 1.1 FPTS per minute with a 21.6% usage rate this season and he is scoring 2.4 more FPTS per game at home than when on the road.
