Mikal Bridges ($5,900) was having a horrible offensive game Wednesday in Game 2 vs. the Boston Celtics. He converted only 6-of-18 from the field and 2-of-8 from downtown, but Bridges has always been a player that stuffs the stat sheet.
Wednesday was no different, as he grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. But the most important contribution was the defensive play at the end of the game.
Up by one point with a tick under nine seconds left in the game, Jayson Tatum ($9,200) dribbled, probed, danced and finally made his way to the left baseline. As he was about to attempt a step back jumper, Bridges came off his man and extended his right arm into the air to block the shot.
Tatum, though, changed his mind at the last moment as he recognized the converging defense. He tried to pass it out to the open player, but Bridges was able to snag the ball out of the air to cement the win.
The statistician awarded Bridges with a steal on the play, which was his third of the night.
