Rockies vs. Tigers prediction, preview
Detroit enters this matchup with Ferrari-engine momentum, winning four of their last five games, including a dominant 13-1 rout over the Angels. Kerry Carpenter has been scorching hot, hitting .355 with two home runs and seven RBIs in his last 10 games. The Tigers are clicking on all cylinders, averaging 5.1 runs per game while posting a robust .755 team OPS. They’ve also been fantastic against right-handed pitchers, with a .828 OPS and 138 wRC+ over the last 10 days. Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene have been pivotal, combining for 11 home runs and 50 RBIs in the past month.
On the mound, Jackson Jobe (2-0, 3.38 ERA) has been solid, consistently limiting opponents to three runs or fewer. Jobe is coming off a solid outing, striking out six while giving up just three earned runs in his last start against Houston.
On the other side, the Rockies (6-28) remain one of the league’s weakest teams. Their offensive woes are glaring, posting the lowest runs per game (3.12) and batting average (.209). Hunter Goodman has been the lone bright spot, hitting .274 with five home runs. However, despite his efforts, Colorado ranks dead last in team OPS at .620, and their pitching staff, with a 5.38 ERA, has struggled mightily. Rookie Chase Dollander (2-3, 6.48 ERA) has been ineffective, with opponents teeing off for 1.32 home runs per nine innings.
Tigers vs. Rockies pick, best bet
The Rockies’ pitching staff has a 5.38 ERA, and they’ve allowed 19 runs during their current three-game losing streak. They’ve failed to cover the spread in five of their last six night games against teams with a winning record.
The Tigers have consistently delivered in this spot, winning 73.7% of games as favorites this season. Their offense has scored 34 runs in the last five games, showing their ability to win big. Meanwhile, the Rockies have been uninspiring, with just two wins in their last 10 games as underdogs.
Given their strong pitching, hitting, and recent form, the Tigers should roll to another victory here. Take Detroit -1.5, and expect them to cover easily. Kerry Carpenter’s recent surge, combined with the Tigers’ offensive dominance, makes them one of tonight’s more intriguing value bets on the run line.
