A loaded 30-team, 15-game slate is on tap for Tuesday across Major League Baseball. Several must-see matchups are on deck, including Rangers vs. Red Sox in Boston. Later, a potential National League playoff preview gets underway when the Cubs host the Giants.

Michael King more than 7.5 strikeouts
A 23-11 start to the season for San Diego has been made possible by one of baseball’s best pitching staffs. Despite Dylan Cease’s struggles, the Padres have allowed an MLB-best 2.88 runs per game to opponents. A major reason for that mark is due to Michael King. The righty, acquired from the Yankees as part of 2023’s Juan Soto trade, was phenomenal during his first full season as a starter last year. He’s been even better this season, recording a 2.09 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 46 strikeouts through 38.2 innings.
King will get the chance to exact revenge on his former team tonight in the Bronx. New York’s lineup scores plenty of runs, but its an all-or-nothing group. This season, the Yankees are striking out 9.06 times per game, the fourth-highest mark in all of baseball. On the other side, King has already compiled three different outings of eight or more Ks. San Diego’s underrated ace is someone worth considering in all fantasy baseball formats tonight.
Austin Riley more than 1.5 total bases
After a brutal start to the season, the Braves appear to be back. Atlanta has won ten of its last 15 games, coming into Tuesday with a respectable 16-18 record. During that stretch, Austin Riley has been on fire. The third baseman leads the team with 13 RBIs to go with a .317 batting average and three home runs. Following a disappointing 2024 campaign, the former All-Star looks like one of the game’s top sluggers once again.
For the visiting Reds, it’s been a solid first month for Andrew Abbott, owner of a 2.84 ERA. However, the lefty’s FIP of 4.59 suggests that he’s benefitted from a decent amount of luck thus far. Right-handed hitters have mashed 39 homers in 50 career games vs. the 25-year-old. Riley, one of the game’s premier power hitters, should take advantage of that tonight.
Andrew Vaughn less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Last week was kind to the White Sox, winners in three of their last five contests. Still, at 10-25, it’s difficult to generate much excitement for the South Siders. The biggest issue on this roster, among several, is a lack of hitting. Chicago is averaging 3.54 runs scored per game, MLB’s sixth-lowest mark. Most names in this lineup are posting pedestrian stat lines, including Andrew Vaughn. The former top prospect is slashing an atrocious .178/.219/.287 through 33 games played.
It comes as no surprise that Vaughn is responsible for -1.3 WAR this season. If there’s a glimmer of hope, he has reached base in four of his last five outings. That’s unlikely to continue tonight against Seth Lugo. The All-Star has continued to dominate in 2025, holding opponents to a .218 batting average against. In nine career at-bats against the righty, Vaughn has tallied two hits (.222 BA). All signs are pointing towards fading Chicago’s first baseman on Tuesday.
Kyle Tucker more than 0.5 home runs
No offense in baseball has scored more than the Cubs, who have generated a whopping 217 runs. For context, the next-closest club (the Yankees) have only scored 190. Leading the charge for Chicago has been offseason pickup Kyle Tucker. The outfielder is having a monster year, slashing .284/.393/.560 while driving in nine homers and 30 RBIs.
With those numbers, only the best arms in the game have a chance at shutting down King Tuck. San Francisco’s Justin Verlander is a future Hall of Famer, but he’s no longer an elite arm in 2025. This season, the 42-year-old has posted a 4.38 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 37.0 innings pitched. That includes a mediocre 1.2 home runs allowed per nine innings. Going up against his former Astros teammate, the veteran doesn’t have his typical swing-and-miss stuff. That could lead to a long ball or two for Tucker at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
Andrew McCutchen less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
Despite the otherworldly talent of Paul Skenes and Oneil Cruz, the Pirates find themselves at the bottom of the NL Central. That’s due in large part to a lack of depth, especially on offense. Pittsburgh’s lineup is filled with an uninspiring mix of unproven youngsters and washed up veterans. A pleasant surprise has been Andrew McCutchen, who has posted a respectable .253/.345/.404 stat line through 30 games.
McCutchen may be swinging a solid bat, but he’s not poised for success tonight. Over the course of his career, Matthew Liberatore has had plenty of success against the former MVP. Through nine at-bats, the Cardinals starter has allowed just one hit (.111 BA) to the 38-year-old. Even if McCutchen does reach base on Tuesday, it’s no guarantee that his fellow Pirates will help out at the plate. Keeping that in mind, it’s impossible to trust Pittsburgh’s fan favorite in tonight’s contest.
Tyler Anderson more than 3.5 strikeouts
Tyler Anderson has been invaluable on an Angels team starved for pitching. This season, the 35-year-old has recorded a 2.67 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 33.2 innings of work. The southpaw isn’t what you’d consider a strikeout artist, accounting for just 27 whiffs through six starts. Instead, he prefers to go deep into games by inducing weak contact and lazy fly balls.
It may be tough for Anderson to punch out many batters tonight. This season, the Blue Jays are whiffing 7.18 times per game, the fourth-lowest rate in baseball. However, the lefty has notched 11 Ks over his previous 10.2 innings against Toronto. Considering how low this total is, Anderson is a worthwhile fantasy baseball play to cap off Tuesday’s MLB slate.
