It feels inevitable that the new contender has to go through the old at some point in the NBA playoffs. That will be the case tonight as the Oklahoma City Thunder welcome the Denver Nuggets to town.
OKC will be looking to prove itself by taking down the preeminent power in the West for the last two seasons. Not only is it a matchup of the top two MVP favorites, but it may signal a changing of the guard in the Western Conference. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic will have lots of eyes on them, but nobody is more important to this series than Jalen Williams.
The 24-year-old just made his first All-Star team and is looking to prove himself as a second option on a contending team. He certainly looked the part with 20+ points in each first-round game, but Denver is a different beast than Memphis. Tonight goes a long way towards proving his viability.
