The two best words in sports. Game 7. The stage is set between the Warriors and Rockets to decide who will face Minnesota in the next round, and who is going to Cancun. Playoff Jimmy has been hit or miss in this series. After scoring 25 points in a Game 1 win, he left Game 2 after only eight minutes with a pelvic injury. That issue then caused him to miss Game 3, before he returned with a vengeance in Game 4, scoring 27 points.
In Game 5, he had a brutal performance, going 2-of-10 from the field for 8 points. The stats don’t truly reflect the full story, as Steve Kerr elected to pull his starters midway through the third quarter. In Game 6, he struggled with effectiveness, but still scored another 27 points.
So, which version of “Playoff Jimmy” are we going to get in the all-important Game 7?
Butler has only played 40+ minutes in three of the six games in this series, and it’s no coincidence that those are the three games in which he scored at least 25 points. Barring injury, it’s almost a guarantee that Butler will play similar minutes in the biggest game of the season, so the opportunity will be there for him to record 25+ points for the fourth time.
Butler and Curry will want to go down swinging if they do lose, so expect both players to get plenty of shots up on Sunday night.
