In the top of the third inning of Friday’s game against the Blue Jays, Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez was injured while running out an infield single. He was removed from the game with an ankle injury and replaced by a pinch runner.

As you can see in the video, Ramirez was hit by the throw to first base, causing him to step awkwardly on the base and injure his ankle. He left the field under his own power, bringing hope to Guardians fans. It was announced that he left due to a mild right ankle sprain.

Ramirez, 32, scored the winning run last night in a walk-off victory after hitting a massive milestone in his career. During that game, he became the first player in Cleveland history with 250 home runs and 250 steals. It’s a tough blow for the future Hall of Famer to pick up an injury, especially so soon after his historic night.

We will provide updates on Jose Ramirez’s status as they come in.
