UPDATE: Tatis has been diagnosed with a left forearm contusion. X-rays were negative.

During Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. left after being hit by a pitch. Pirates starter Mitch Keller threw a sinker that broke too far inside and hit him square on the arm, causing massive swelling.

Tatis was replaced with a pinch runner, Oscar Gonzalez.

No update has been provided on the nature of the injury, but the location is evident. The 26-year-old Tatis leads the National League with a .345 batting average coming into tonight. He walked in his first at-bat before the HBP.

We will provide updates on Tatis Jr. as they come along.
