Triston Casas injury update: Friday 5/2/25

In the bottom of the second inning of Friday’s game between the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, Triston Casas hit a dribbler down the first base line. As he stretched out to try and beat out the throw, Casas crumbled at first base and immediately grabbed his left knee area.

A stretcher was brought out and carted Casas off the field.

Romy Gonzalez was the substitute on Friday. Gonzalez has filled in at first base whenever Casas has been out of the lineup this season. In 44 plate appearances, Gonzalez is slashing .275/.341/.400. The walk rate is 9.1%, strikeout rate is 18.2%, but the ISO is only .125. Gonzalez has a career 30.5% strikeout rate and .143 ISO. He does have excellent speed, as the 28.3 feet per second is in the 84th percentile.
