Taijuan Walker takes the mound, and he’s been everything Philadelphia could have hoped for so far. His 2.78 ERA speaks for itself, and the way he’s handling hitters with a .239 opposing batting average is nothing short of impressive.
However, Walker’s expected ERA (3.94) is notably higher than his current ERA, signaling potential for some regression as the season moves forward. While still solid, this expected shift could open the door for more runs than anticipated—especially against a Nationals team that can power up when needed. This may not be enough to derail the Phillies’ chances tonight, but it certainly raises questions about the potential for a higher-scoring game.
Brad Lord’s struggles, on the other hand, tell a much different story. His 4.67 ERA and 1.73 WHIP are reflective of a pitcher who hasn’t quite found his groove.
