This first-round series has been sweet revenge for Julius Randle. The former Laker has transformed himself since leaving Los Angeles, and eliminating his former team would be a good feeling. It only takes one more win for him to help propel the Minnesota Timberwolves into the next round.
Randle has been their most important player of the series so far. Anthony Edwards is doing Anthony Edwards things to nobody’s surprise. However, Randle stepping up his scoring and playmaking has keyed their offense as the Lakers seek to take the ball out of Edwards’ hands. This is also a subpar Lakers defense. They can’t keep Jaxson Hayes, their only facsimile of a rim protector, on the floor. The bench offers little resistance, forcing the starters to play heavy minutes, which arguably cost them Game 4. Luka Doncic is always an attackable defender and LeBron James has little energy to meet his defensive standards.
I think the Lakers prevail in tonight’s game, but Randle will get his numbers. That much, I am sure of.
