The stage is set for a series-deciding showdown in Baltimore tonight. Can the Yankees continue to flex their offensive muscle, or will the Orioles turn things around? With two inconsistent starters on the mound, all signs point to a slugfest. Don’t blink—this one’s bound to get lively. Below, I’ve got my preview, prediction, and best bet for this Wednesday night baseball game between the Orioles and the Yankees.

Orioles vs. Yankees prediction, preview

The Yankees are coming off a resounding 15-3 win over the Orioles, showcasing just how quickly their offense can dominate. Aaron Judge has been on fire, hitting .463 over the last 10 games with a slugging percentage well over .700. His recent performance underscores a Yankees lineup that ranks second in the league in runs per game and leads MLB in OPS. Even though they’re sending Carlos Carrasco to the mound, a pitcher whose ERA sits above 5.00, New York’s bullpen has shown strength, ranking seventh in bullpen ERA. Despite Carrasco’s struggles, including his 5.26 ERA, the Yankees still have the advantage on the mound as his last start against Toronto showcased a potential for bounce-back, giving up no earned runs over five innings.

On the other side, the Orioles are battling a significant pitching disadvantage. Cade Povich, a left-handed starter, has struggled with consistency this season, carrying a 5.04 ERA and allowing opposing batters a .327 average. Baltimore’s bullpen hasn’t been much better, ranking 27th in ERA. While the Orioles’ offense has flashes of potential, including a strong bat from Cedric Mullins, they sit near the bottom of MLB in multiple offensive categories, including team batting average and on-base percentage.

Yankees vs. Orioles pick, best bet

With the Yankees’ power-hitting offense and the Orioles’ shaky pitching staff, the game is ripe for runs. Even with the over/under set high at 9.5, these two teams are likely to go beyond it, considering the Orioles’ defensive woes and New York’s hot bats.

Ultimately, however, I’m backing the Yankees here, even with the slight underdog line. Carrasco’s veteran savvy should hold steady against an inconsistent Orioles lineup, and New York’s offensive firepower should outshine Povich’s shaky start.
