On Monday, the Baltimore Orioles placed second baseman Jordan Westburg on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.
The 26-year-old has been off to a tough start at the plate, slashing .217/.265/.391. Now he’ll be on the shelf for at least a week. It’s not how the 2024 All-Star wanted his season to go.
This is also a tough blow for Baltimore. The Orioles now have a total of 13 players on the injured list. They’ll be hoping this is a minimum stint for their young infielder. At 10-17 and last in the AL East, they’ll have to dig deep to keep their postseason hopes alive.
