There are 16 games taking place across today’s MLB slate and plenty of opportunities to get involved in the action this evening. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Baseball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for action for today, 4/27/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on the remaining slate.
Marcell Ozuna More Than 1.5 Total Bases
The Braves will be playing the Diamondbacks tonight with Brandon Pfaadt on the mound. Pfaat is off to a stellar start to the season, throwing 29.2 innings and allowing just nine earned runs thus far. However, there is some fair concern he comes crashing down to earth soon with Pfaadt ranking in the bottom third of the MLB in expected ERA, expected batting average, and barrel rate. The 26-year-old posted a 5.72 and 4.71 ERA across his first two seasons in the MLB, while this number sits at 2.73 so far this season.
Marcell Ozuna will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this and has had success in matchups with Pfaadt thus far. The Braves star has faced the Diamondbacks pitcher five times in their careers, in which Ozuna has gone 3-for-5 with a home run.
Ozuna is off to a solid overall start to the season, tallying 23 hits in his first 74 at-bats while leading the National League in walks and OBP. He is coming off a two-hit performance with one home run last night and has recorded more than 1.5 total bases in four of his past seven games. Look for him to build off this in a matchup where he has had success by recording more than 1.5 total bases today.
Teoscar Hernandez More Than 1.5 Total Bases
It has been a red-hot start to the season for Teoscar Hernandez. He has tallied 27 hits in his first 98 at-bats, including seven home runs and 24 RBIs. Hernandez is posting a .551 slugging percentage and .845 OPS while ranking in the 87th percentile in xBA and the 82nd percentile in expected slugging percentage.
Bailey Falter is set to be on the mound for the Pirates today. Through his opening five starts, Falter is posting a 5.19 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He is especially vulnerable against power hitters, ranking in the 20th percentile in average exit velocity and the eighth percentile in hard-hit rate.
Hernandez is seeing the ball well and enters this matchup on a five-game hitting streak. Just yesterday, he tallied two hits with one being a double and one being a home run. The Dodgers’ standout has recorded more than 1.5 total bases in four of his past five games. Look for him to carry this effort into today and record more than 1.5 total bases in this favorable matchup.
Johan Rojas More Than 0.5 Hits
It has been an uneasy start to the season for the Phillies. The outfield was a point of concern entering this season, with Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas serving as the primary centerfield options. It was a nightmare start to the year for Marsh, who has been sent down to the minors to rehab a hamstring injury and attempt to get himself back on track. Marsh struck out 16 times across his first 42 at-bats, posting hitting splits of .095/.220/.167.
This has paved the way for Johan Rojas to serve as the regular starting centerfielder. Not having to constantly look over his shoulder has done Rojas well, and you can see his confidence growing at the plate. Across his first 45 at-bats, he has tallied 13 hits and is posting a .289 batting average. Rojas has recorded a hit in six of his last 10 games and will continue to see plenty of pitches due to the notable names ahead of him. The bats finally came alive for the Phillies yesterday, with them putting 10 runs on the Cubs. Look for this effort to continue tonight and for Rojas to continue this effort with another hit today.
Kyle Tucker More Than 1.5 Total Bases
On the other side of this matchup, Kyle Tucker has fit in nicely in Chicago after being traded to the Cubs in the offseason. The three-time All-Star is posting hitting splits of .300/.409/.600 hitting splits with a 1.009 OPS. Tucker has tallied seven home runs and 25 RBIs already this season.
Aaron Nola will be on the mound for the Phillies, with him getting off to a concerning start to the year. He is 0-5 through his first five starts with a 6.43 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. Nola’s track record for success in the MLB is strong, but his velocity has taken a dip to start this year, and he is walking opponents at a high rate. The 32-year-old ranks in the bottom half of the league in xERA, xBA, average exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.
Tucker does not need any help with a matchup because of the way he is playing but the opportunity has presented itself. He is 3-for-9 in his career against Nola with two home runs. Look for him to continue his strong start and tally more than 1.5 total bases as he has in 10 of his past 17 games.
Aaron Nola Less Than 5.5 Strikeouts Thrown
Speaking of Aaron Nola, the 5.5 strikeout line feels too high based on the level he has started this season. To his credit, Nola has battled through his struggles and thrown at least five innings in all five of his starts this season. He has put himself in some jams, allowing at least five hits in each start, and has been forced to rely on the strikeouts at a higher rate, with 31 tallied on the season.
But the velocity and concern issues are legitimate and will be problematic against this Cubs lineup. Nola has not been a big-time strikeout pitcher on the larger sample size of his career, recording less than 5.5 strikeouts in 15 starts last year. It feels like Nola is in a legitimate funk that could be put on full display against this Cubs offense. Don’t be shocked if he is chased from this game early against a Cubs lineup that ranks 15th in the MLB in strikeout rate as a team.
Nick Castellanos More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Nick Castellanos is among the streakiest hitters in the MLB, but this is a chance to catch him at the right time. He is coming off a two-hit performance yesterday, playing a part in the Phillies pouring on 10 runs. Castellanos has recorded a hit in three straight games and has had success in their pitching battle. Jameson Taillon is on the mound for the Cubs. In their careers, Castellanos has tallied four hits in his 10 plate appearances, including one home run and three RBIs.
There were some encouraging signs of Castellanos’ plate approach to start the season as well. He is posting hitting splits of .283/.345/.444 with 12 runs, 15 RBIs, and three home runs. The 33-year-old will continue to see plenty of lineup protection with Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber in front of him. Look for him to deliver with more than 1.5 hits, runs, and RBIs as the Phillies build off yesterday’s offensive explosion and look to get fully back on track as an offense.
