Just 14 teams will take the field for Saturday night’s seven-game MLB slate. However, there’s still a few enticing wagers available on DraftKings Sportsbook. Before the start of this evening’s contests, here are two MLB bets worth placing
Braves vs. Diamondbacks under 9.5 runs (-122)
Two offenses loaded with star power are set to meet tonight in Phoenix. After a rough start, the Braves have turned things around. In each of Atlanta’s last seven games, the lineup has scored at least four runs. The Diamondbacks have hit well all season, averaging the third-most runs per game in all of baseball (5.27). On paper, this has the makings of a shootout.
That’s without factoring in the success of both pitchers slated to take the hill on Saturday. For the visitors, Grant Holmes has been a saving grace on an otherwise disappointing rotation. Over his last three starts, the right-hander has surrendered just four runs in 17.1 innings of work. Merrill Kelly has been just as dominant for Arizona, allowing four runs during his last 17.2 innings pitched. Both lineups are stocked with talent, but this line feels high given how these starters have looked recently.
Mariners -1.5 (-105)
T-Mobile Park, formerly Safeco Field, is the game’s most friendly venue for pitchers. However, those spacious dimensions have had a significant impact on the Mariners in recent years, including this season. Through 26 games, Seattle is averaging 3.50 runs at home, the league’s fourth-lowest mark. Fortunately, this roster has arguably the most pitching depth in all of baseball. That’s bad news for tonight’s visitors, the light-hitting Marlins.
Luis Castillo, one of Seattle’s top arms, is set to take the bump tonight. The former All-Star has had a mediocre month of April, recording a 4.44 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Still, there’s enough of a track record to suggest he’ll bounce back. Since 2023, the 32-year-old has accounted for a 3.04 ERA when pitching at home. The Marlins will counter with rookie Connor Gillispie, who has coughed up 12 runs over his last two starts. Given the disparity on the mound, a dominant Mariners win feels inevitable.
