Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the books. While it wasn’t the most groundbreaking draft in recent history, we still witnessed a shocking trade with Jacksonville moving up to No. 2 to snatch Travis Hunter, and unpredicted landing spots for other prospects. As we digest the first round and roll into Day 2, let’s highlight the most-shocking results from Round 1 based on odds offered on DraftKings Sportsbook.

NFL Draft Round 1 Surprises by the Odds
While Cam Ward to the Titans at -20000 was obviously not a shocker, we had a handful of players land in locations bettors were not prepared for.
- Tampa Bay to take a WR was as high as +3500 on DraftKings Sportsbook. With studs in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin anchoring a passing game manned by Baker Mayfield, it was a huge surprise to see TB take WR Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State University with the 19th overall pick. This pick brings questions to Godwin’s health after he suffered a season-ending dislocated left ankle in Week 7 of last season—is his recovery timeline looking longer than expected? Nonetheless, the Buccs got a big-bodied target to pair well with the already insane Mike Evans and young Jalen McMillan.
- Kelvin Banks Jr. to go No. 9 to the Saints was another shocker. Obviously, QB Shedeur Sanders has controlled the narrative of the draft for week, and New Orleans was a highly-mocked landing spot for the Colorado prospect. Instead, Banks Jr. heads to the Big Easy—his odds to go 9th overall were +3000.
- Let’s talk tight ends! Colston Loveland to go 10th overall was +2000 on the DraftKings Sportsbook, while TE Tyler Warren was the favorite overall to go No. 10 (+320). Many viewed the Penn State product as the more talented prospect of the two, especially considering Loveland’s lack of blocking ability in comparison to Warren’s. To add to the surprise, Tyler Warren’s Draft Position Prop was set at 9.5, and 71% of the bets were on U9.5—Warren went just a few picks later at No. 14 to the Colts.
- Another huge surprise in Round 1 was Carolina taking the first WR off the board with the 8th overall pick: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona. A big-play player with All-Pro potential and great body control, T-Mac was highly coveted as the top receiver in this draft (besides Travis Hunter… you know the conversation). However, the Arizona product was +1200 to go No. 8, while Georgia LB Jalon Walker was the favorite to go to Carolina at +250.
Round 2 of the NFL Draft Kicks off at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, April 25th, with QB Shedeur Sanders the hottest topic. The 23-year-old is +1200 to land in Pittsburgh and +600 to still be drafted by the Saints.
