New York Giants trade back into the first round

UPDATE: Coach Brian Daboll announced that Russell Wilson will be the Giants starting quarterback this upcoming season.

In the offseason, the Giants addressed the quarterback situation by signing Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. As a result, that made selecting Abdul Carter with the third overall pick to bolster the defense more palatable, but Wilson and Winston are not long-term answers at quarterback.

Well, late in the first round, the Giants made a trade with the Houston Texans to get their signal caller of the future. In order to move up, New York parted with the No. 34 pick, a 2025 third-rounder and a future sixth-rounder for Houston’s No. 25 pick.

With that selection, the Giants selected Jaxson Dart.

Dart was a four-year starter who began his college career at USC. He then transferred to Ole Miss and played three seasons for Lane Kiffin, culminating in 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns with only six interceptions last season, while completing 69.3% of his passes. Dart also rushed 124 times for 495 yards and three touchdowns.
