Best landing spots for Shedeur Sanders in round two of the 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders not being selected in the first round of the NFL Draft was the story of the night.

Forget about the Jaguars trading up for Travis Hunter or the Giants trading up for Jaxson Dart. Sanders was originally thought of as one of the two best quarterbacks in the draft. He was considered neck and neck with Cam Ward as the best at his position.

Somehow, someway, in recent weeks, his stock started to slip. He was being projected anywhere from mid-first round to the bottom of the first round. Instead, he was passed up by every team in the NFL on Thursday night. Surely, Sanders will be selected in the second round and DraftKings Sportsbook has the odds on his likely landing spots.

Browns

The first obvious landing spot is Cleveland, who owns the first pick in the second round (33) as well as the 36th pick. The Browns currently have Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett on their roster. In my opinion, this is a no-brainer for Cleveland in this spot with no clear-cut franchise quarterback on the team.

Raiders

The next possible landing spot for Sanders is the Raiders at pick 37. Las Vegas just signed veteran Geno Smith, and Aidan O’Connell is the backup. The Raiders still don’t have a clear answer at the position for the long term, so this could be a great opportunity to take their quarterback of the future and let him sit behind Smith until he’s ready.

Saints

Next up is the Saints at pick 40. There are injury concerns over Derek Carr, and this could be the perfect long-term fit in New Orleans. Playing in a dome could be very beneficial to someone like Sanders, who may lack throwing power compared to other prospects. Carr is 34 years old now, and his best years could be behind him.
